Colin Johnson is the Student Body President of East Carolina University. He is a senior pursing a Bachelor of Science in Health Services Management. He is an EC Scholar and is a member of the Honors College. A Greenville native, Colin is intimately familiar with the Eastern North Carolina community. He previously attended DH Conley High School and is an alumnus of the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics.

Colin is the youngest of four siblings and the third in his family to attend ECU.  His mother is a bookkeeper at a local heating and air conditioning company in Pitt County and his stepfather is a retired assistant principal and elementary school teacher. They both now live in Ayden, NC. His father is a retired computer sales associate who lives in Howard County, Maryland.

While at ECU, Colin has pursued his passion for democratic engagement serving in leadership roles in the Center for Leadership and Civic Engagement, the Honors College, and various other student organizations. Before serving as the Student Body President, Colin served as the Speaker of the Student Assembly for the 3rd session of the Student Government Association, where he worked on initiatives to foster earnest and informed debate as the Chair of the Assembly. Colin has also engaged in research endeavors to advance the health and well-being of those in Eastern North Carolina by working in the Litwa Lab at the Brody School of Medicine and the Cardiovascular Psychophysiology Laboratory, and by serving as a research assistant for the Rural Prosperity Initiative.

Colin will serve this year alongside his Vice President Taylor Chappell. Together they were elected to advocate for student success, to promote an inclusive environment, and to connect students with campus resources. Some of their key initiatives will be textbook cost transparency, internship grants, and financial literacy.
