Vince Smith
Vince Smith is a retired Lieutenant Colonel and served his nation both as a military officer and later as a department of defense civilian. As a career Air Force officer, Vince commanded at both the squadron and group levels. In 2002, while serving as the 620th Expeditionary Air Force Base Commander he was responsible for all Air Forces in Kosovo and Macedonia. Vince also saw duty in the both Gulf Wars.
Vince has extensive experience in legislate areas having spent more than four years in the Air Force Legislative Liaison Office. Vince has a decorated record of service to National Defense. He has also distinguished himself in his service and support to East Carolina University since the early 1990’s. He describes himself as one who has been a Pirate Club member forever. He has served on the ECU Foundations Board of Directors since November 2007. He serves on the Advancement Boards for the College of Health and Human Performance Advancement Board and the Honors College.
He previously serves as the Washington DC Metro Pirate Club Chapter President for several years. Vince is a person who says “yes” when asked to help, whether it involves duty to country or service at ECU. He is a born leader and a living example of the qualities inherent in membership in the Distinguished Military Service Society at ECU.
